Maison de l’histoire is a place where stories come together. A boutique B&B and a carefully curated collection of vintage furniture and objects. Located near Sint-Martens-Latem and the Leie, we bring two worlds together: staying in a charming house and shopping among unique finds. Who is behind Maison de l’histoire?
Maison de l'histoire grew out of Linde's passion and dedication. Years of evening classes in woodworking and upholstery, endless days and nights of work, and an eye for detail brought this project to life. No mass production, but the small and the real: furniture and experiences with a soul.
What makes Maison de l'histoire special?
Here, it's all about authenticity. You won't find fast trends or perfect copies here, but objects and houses that have character — with scars of time that only make them more beautiful. Each piece has been carefully selected, restored, or preserved so that you can enjoy a stay and a collection that feels pure and authentic.
What accommodations do we offer?
We welcome you in three unique accommodations, each with its own atmosphere:
Fleur de Pivoine – also in the main house, warm and elegantly furnished, with more depth and character.
Fleur de Jasmin – an entire house, bathed in light and surrounded by jasmine. Perfect for staying with family or friends.
Fleur de Marguerite – an intimate room in the large house, light and simple, with a soft rural charm.
Are the accommodations suitable for families?
Yes. All accommodations are suitable for up to four people::
Both Fleur de Marguerite and Fleur de Pivoine can accommodate four people: two in the room itself and two extra on the sofa bed downstairs.
At Fleur de Jasmin has a bedroom for two people and a comfortable sofa bed in the living room for two more guests.
Where is Maison de l'histoire located?
Our accommodations are located near Sint-Martens-Latem and the river Lys. It's a place where you can get away from it all without going far— close enough for excursions, far enough to truly unwind.
How can I make a reservation?
You can easily make a reservation via our online booking system. Select your desired accommodation (Fleur de Jasmin, Fleur de Marguerite, or Fleur de Pivoine), enter your dates, and immediately see availability.
What facilities are included?
Each accommodation has its own atmosphere and amenities:
Fleur de Pivoine – also in the main house, with a private bedroom, sofa bed, and access to the garden.
Fleur de Jasmin – bright living room, fully equipped kitchen, bedroom, sofa bed, and extras such as a hammam and a spacious terrace.
Fleur de Marguerite – located in the main house, with its own bedroom, sofa bed, and access to the garden.
What kind of pieces do you sell?
Our collection consists of carefully selected furniture and objects, each with its own story. Think of sturdy Asian cabinets, elegant display cases, rustic sideboards, or unique accent pieces. No trends, just characterful finds that deserve a new chapter.
Do you have a physical store?
We don't have a traditional store. You can view and purchase our collection online. If you prefer to see and feel the pieces in real life, you can make an appointment to discover them in person.
How do you source the furniture?
Each item is a second-hand find that has been carefully selected. Thanks to our expertise in woodworking and upholstery, the pieces are given a new lease of life without losing their soul. We never choose based on perfection, but always on character and authenticity.
Can I view the furniture in person?
Yes, you can. You are welcome to make an appointment to see the pieces up close. This allows you to truly experience the craftsmanship and details before you decide.
Do you offer delivery?
Yes, delivery is possible. For each piece of furniture on our website, you can indicate whether you want delivery. If that is not possible or if you have special requirements, please feel free to contact us and we will work with you to find the most suitable solution for your piece and location.
What are the pop-up events?
Occasionally, we open our doors for more than just furniture. During our pop-ups, you can also discover pre-loved clothing, shoes, and accessories all with the same attention to quality and authenticity.
Can I buy gift cards?
Yes, we offer gift cards. The perfect gift for those who love a special stay, a unique piece of furniture, or an authentic story.
What is a stock sale?
Sometimes we make room for new finds, and during a stock sale, you can buy special pieces at a great price. Sign up for our updates and be the first to know when such an event takes place.
How far in advance should I book?
Our accommodations are small-scale and therefore fill up quickly. It is best to book as early as possible, especially on weekends or during holiday periods.
What is your cancellation policy?
For cancellations up to 14 days before arrival , we charge 50% of the amount . For cancellations less than 14 days before arrival, the full amount will be charged.
Is parking available?
Yes, you can park on our property. The peaceful surroundings ensure a relaxing start to your stay.
What languages do you speak?
Our main language is Dutch, but we are also happy to assist you in English.
Can I bring my pet?
No, unfortunately pets are not allowed. We have made this decision in order to preserve the furniture and atmosphere of our accommodations for all guests.
How sustainable is Maison de l'histoire?
Sustainability is part of everything we do. We give furniture and objects a second life and avoid mass production. This way, we reduce waste and preserve craftsmanship and stories from the past.
Why vintage and not new?
Vintage has something that cannot be replicated: character. Each piece has a life behind it, scars that have become beauty, a story that remains. New can be beautiful, but vintage is real.
How do you select the pieces?
We don't choose based on gloss or trends, but on authenticity. Every piece of furniture must have something to say. This creates a collection that is cohesive in feeling, not in uniformity.
